What Is a Share Certificate?

You choose a term, deposit your money, and earn a fixed return that's guaranteed for the length of the certificate, as long as the funds remain untouched.
Unlike investments that can go up and down in value, a Share Certificate offers a predictable way to grow your savings. When the term ends, you have options. You can let the certificate continue working, make an adjustment, or withdraw the funds.
What Is the Difference Between a Share Certificate and a Certificate of Deposit (CD)?
Share Certificates and CDs work much the same way. Both offer a fixed return over a set period of time. The main difference is that Share Certificates are offered by credit unions, while CDs are offered by banks.
