PFCU VISA Check Card/ATM Card Usage

1. Shared Network Transactions (PLUS or NYCE System)

  • Cash withdrawal from your savings account - suffix 00 
  • Cash withdrawal from your checking account - suffix 90 or 95 
  • Cash Withdrawal from your personal line of credit - (if applicable)

The limit for cash withdrawals will be $400 in a 24 hour period. Proprietors of ATMs may set limits for cash withdrawals from their machines which are below our daily limit. However, you may use more than one machine until you reach the daily limit of $400.

2. VISA Check Card/ATM Card Point-Of-Sale Network Transactions

Cash purchases at a point-of-sale terminal (supermarket, fuel pump, or electronic cashier) will be debited from your account. The dollar limits of these transactions and the number of transactions allowed per day may vary by merchant. Participating merchants may charge fees for these transactions.

You can get a receipt at the time you make the transaction at a PLUS or NYCE ATM terminal. At merchant locations, you may get a receipt if you request one.

PFCU's daily limit on ATM point-of-sale transactions is up to a total of $2,500. However, merchant limits may be lower, and their policy will govern their store's daily limit.

Each VISA Check Card/ATM Card holder will receive a monthly statement of all account transactions, including electronic payments and deposits, checks written and paid, and other nonelectronic deposits and withdrawals.

3. Ownership of VISA Check Card/ATM Card

There is no fee for the issuance of the VISA Check Card or PFCU ATM Card even though it remains the property of PFCU, and you agree to surrender the card to us upon demand.

We may cancel, modify, or restrict the use of any VISA Check Card/ATM Card upon proper notice. We may cancel, modify, or restrict the use of any VISA Check Card/ATM Card without notice: 

  • if your account is overdrawn or delinquent.
  • if you violate any term of the agreement and disclosure.
  • where it is necessary to maintain or restore the security of your account(s), or the electronic funds system.

We also reserve the right to recall the VISA Check Card/ATM Card through the retrieval by any of the automated teller machines. Each time a replacement card is issued the cost will be $10.00 unless the new card must be issued because of an error made by PFCU.

If you should suffer a loss from any action described above, PFCU shall not be held responsible.

4. Charges For E.F.T. Services (Electronic Funds Transfer)

There are no charges for use of the Call-24 service. You may withdraw one check per day from each account. All balance inquiries and transfer requests should be made through Call-24 or CU Direct Online Banking.

An ATM cash withdrawal at any automated teller machine is subject to the fee disclosed in our ATM agreement. If you request a copy of the documentation relative to an ATM transaction, any fees incurred by PFCU will be charged to your account.

5. Disclosure of Delayed Funds Availability

We reserve the right to place a hold on uncollected funds on any item you deposit. This could delay your ability to withdraw such funds. For further details, see our "Funds Availability Policy."

We are not responsible for delays in posting due to mail delays or untimely receipt of payroll deductions. This delay may make it impossible for you to withdraw such funds on the same day as the date of the payroll deduction. Therefore, you should make your monetary plans with this in mind.

6. Verification and Posting of Transactions

All transactions affected by use of the VISA Check Card/ATM Card which would otherwise require your signature, or other authorized signature, shall be valid and effective as if signed by you when accomplished by use of the VISA Check Card/ATM Card and PIN.

7. Applicable Law

Except as governed by Federal law, this Disclosure and Agreement shall be construed and governed in accordance with the Laws of the State of New Jersey.

8. Copy Received

You acknowledge receipt of a copy of this Disclosure and Agreement by use of the VISA Check Card/ATM Card and PIN or other Electronic System.

VISA Check Card/ATM Card Consumer Liability

VISA Check Card

The VISA Check Card provides the member with no liability on unauthorized transactions reported to PFCU VISA requires provisional credit for losses from unauthorized card use within 5 business days of notification of the loss.

PFCU must hear from you within 30 days of the first statement on which the error or problem occurs. Notification by phone or in person requires a written follow-up within 10 business days.

ATM Card
  1. It is your responsibility to notify PFCU immediately if your ATM Card and/or Security Code (PIN) has been lost or stolen. Provided you notify PFCU within 2 business days after you discover the possible loss or theft, your loss will be limited to a maximum of $50 if your ATM Card and PIN are used without your permission.
  2. If you fail to notify PFCU within 2 business days of the possible loss or theft of your ATM Card or PIN, your loss could be unrecoverable.
  3. If you do not tell us within 60 days after your statement was mailed to you, you may not get back any money you lost after the 60 days, if we can prove that we could have stopped someone from using the card if you had told us in time. If you had a valid reason, such as an extended vacation or hospital stay, which prevented you from informing us, we will extend the time periods. Notification by phone or in person requires a written follow-up within 10 business days.
  4. It is important that you examine your monthly statement promptly. If an error has been made on your account, or you notice a questionable transaction, it is your responsibility to notify PFCU of the error within 60 days after the statement mailing date.
When notifying PFCU in writing of a suspected error:
  1. Include your name, address, and account number.
  2. Describe, in detail, the transaction in question and explain, as clearly as possible, why you believe it is an error or why you need more information.
  3. Indicate the dollar amount of the suspected error.
  4. Include the ATM/POS location of the transaction in question.
PFCU's Responsibility

We will investigate all suspicious transactions reported and report back to you, as soon as possible. It must be understood that some problems may take longer than others to investigate and resolve since there may be other financial institutions or merchants involved.

Should there be any adjustments required as a result of the investigation, credits or debits will be dated back to the actual date the transaction occurred.

You will receive written notification of the results of the investigation and any adjustments required to resolve the problem. Copies of documents used in our investigation will be available to you upon request.

ALL OF THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE THE SAME FOR ANY TYPE OF QUESTIONABLE TRANSACTION YOU MAY FIND ON YOUR STATEMENT REGARDLESS OF WHETHER IT WAS INITIATED BY USE OF CALL-24, DIRECT DEPOSIT, ACH TRANSACTIONS, OR PAYROLL DEDUCTION. CALL OR WRITE TO US IMMEDIATELY.
